btw there was already a dutchTV documentary in 1999 about the band, you can still watch it here:
final update: this was an tindersticks invite-only event – in the end the “documentary” was the TWR films screened & David Boulter not Dj-ing that night.

new (instrumental) musical project (EP “Beyond Harlem Nocturne”) from Terry Edwards & Neil Fraser

EP “Beyond Harlem Nocturne” RELEASED ON 3RD OF JULY 2015

PREORDER: https://sartorialrecords.greedbag.com/buy/beyond-harlem-nocturne/

DESCRIPTION

TERRY EDWARDS, NEIL FRASER – BEYOND HARLEM NOCTURNE

Beyond Harlem Nocturne showcases a set of music from Terry Edwards (PJ Harvey,
Gallon Drunk, Madness, The Vaccines etc) and Neil Fraser (Tindersticks, London
Dirthole Company, Asphalt Ribbons), recorded for release ahead of their residency
at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival from 7th to 30th of August 2015

Harlem Nocturne – the Earle Hagen standard recorded by Edwards a couple of times in the past, this tips its’ hat to the swampy version by New Jersey’s Viscounts, with tremolo guitar backing the lead – played on a bright, brash plastic alto saxophone!

Lullaby for Ian – a contemplative duet for guitar and flute, written by Edwards on
hearing of his teenage hero Ian Dury’s terminal cancer. The flute lines are reminiscent of the Kes soundtrack (played by Harold McNair) and the title refers to Lullaby for Franci/es on the Blockheads’ album Do It Yourself

Factory Girls – a Tindersticks song taken from the comfort-zone of Falling Down A
Mountain and redefined with a vulnerable Chet Baker-style vocal, culminating in wild, angry shards of guitars and sax in the coda

Curve Ball – Edwards & Fraser’s first writing collaboration which is rooted in a swinging, repetitive chord sequence, embroidered with Neil’s inventive lead-lines and layered drones, accompanied by rich baritone saxophone roots

Terry Edwards: “A new project to be premiered at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in August. More details soon… ”

UPDATE#1:

“Terry Edwards (PJ Harvey, Higsons, Madness etc) and Tindersticks’ guitarist Neil Fraser combine to create a brand new bag of spine-tingling music, alongside choice cuts from their back-catalogue. Edwards leads on trumpet, flute, guitar and saxophones (occasionally two at once) while Fraser’s deftly played guitars envelop the melodies with acerbic precision. An intimate space to experience this duo’s ferocious left-field angst and virtuosity tempered with the fragility and beauty of their ballads.”
